** This post is part of a larger post: Developing a Gifted and Talented Program. **
Who knows their children better than their own parents? Our students’ parents/guardians are the first resource we should use when seeing if a child qualifies for the gifted and talented program. By having parents/guardians fill out a survey/questionnaire about their child, the school can get to know more about the student outside of the school environment, and it allows the parents/guardians a chance to advocate for their child’s education.
When conducting research to see what kinds of questions to put on the survey, I found a ton! Check out the document I created that you could use with your students’ parents/guardians. To edit the document, go to “File” and select “Make a Copy.” This will save the document to your personal Google Drive and give you the ability to edit the questions. Feel free to change any questions, add your own, take out ones you do not feel pertain to your program, etc.
Are there any other questions you find helpful to ask parents/guardians?
